Malaika
Malaika was founded in 2004 by Ecuadorians Margarita Andrande and Goya Gallagher after they relocated to Egypt. Their design backgrounds and keen interest in embroidery, crochet and hand-drawn thread work led them to use Egyptian cotton to produce high quality bed and table linens that are delicately hand-embroidered by local women taught this economically valuable skill at Malaika’s own school. The Malaika Fayoum pottery collection, with its bold and original floral and leaf designs, is handcrafted using an artform dating back to Ancient Egypt.
